“What’s the point?” The cynical phrase, like an alcoholic’s bulbous, vein-mapped nose or the smoker’s scratchy tone, is a symptom of a soul that has overindulged… in this case in disappointment and its chaser, disgust.

Cynicism is a dangerous state. Not to be confused with pessimism, skepticism, or incredulity. Some people question everything because they want to get down to the facts. The cynic, however, had taken it to an altogether different level. They question the sincerity and genuineness of all efforts and believe self-interest is everyone’s driver in every circumstance. It’s awfully difficult to produce any good on this planet with this view of your fellow man. It’s wise to be wary but not wise to doubt all in every situation.
