If you speak seeking to impress your impression will be temporal.

We’ve all had that experience of being in a conversation with someone who seems to be in love with the sound of their own voice. Their soliloquies are like a run on sentence with no punctuation and little awareness of the audience before them.

The best path to making a positive impression is not the product of trying to impress others with our expertise and eloquence, but rather the result of sincerely seeking to understand the person you’re talking with and seeking empathy for their story. Remembering the old yarn about having two ears and one mouth will never do us harm.
