2. Respect the uniqueness of each person – demonstrate CURIOSITY.
Don’t think for a minute that curiosity is a common trait. In fact, when you start watching for it with people you meet it’s almost startling how many people demonstrate little to no curiosity whatsoever. My wife and I often discuss this after encountering new acquaintances. “Did they ask you anything about you or your life?” When you meet people that do, you remember them, they stand out from the self-absorbed, the ego-driven and those that are just deep in their own head. Every person you meet is incredibly unique in some way, through some experience or from a unique perspective they hold. Our humanity is best expressed by seeking out exactly what it is that makes this person in front of you unique.
